fly-fishing More Loop Highlights

Like all three Loop albums I own, this one has tracks I loathe but also gems. I don’t care for the discordant tracks. The final track “Arc-Light (Sonar)” is all over YouTube and, in my opinion, the best track.
Help answer the question about Loop
How might a loop of wire carrying a current be used as a compass?
How Loop might a loop of wire carrying a current be used as a compass? Could such a compass distinguish between north and south? Why or why not?

A revolutionary tactic, the Orgasm Loop is fuses cognitive feedback research pertaining to the female orgasm with Tantric breathing, which is an adaptation of the same techniques that produce similar energy-focusing tactics used in the martial arts.

The Orgasm Loop works by teaching women how to visualize their arousal and then concentrate all her sexual energy into achieving an orgasm in only three stages. The more capable she is in visualizing sexual arousal, the more aroused she will then become, until orgasm becomes an easy goal to achieve.

The three stages to achieving this orgasm are as follows:

1. Mental Arousal

A woman must close your eyes, completely clear her mind of everything and clearly visualize her arousal. How women visualize their arousal greatly differs from one female to the next. Some prefer imagining their own genitalia, while others prefer visualizing a flower. Some prefer simply imagining a certain color. The visual arousal can even be a romantic scene. Whatever the image is that arouses you most, focus on that every time you try the Orgasm Loop Loop and concentrate on it immensely.

2. Energy Focus

Once a woman is aware of nothing else but arousal, it is time to start to focus inward. Some prefer focusing on a spot just below their navel. Once a spot is selected, slow, deep breathing is necessary as the little spot of imagined energy glows and grows until it reaches the genitals through nothing but mental focus. Once the energy ball is in place, imagine a fiery coil of sexual energy right at the bottom of your spine, also uncoiling and moving towards your genitals. Let the energy ball encircle your genitals, especially the clitoris. By this time, you should be experiencing heightened sensitivity to simple touches and your body must be feeling warmer, more alive, and more sensuous. You have just brought sexual heat to live on the genitals. Once you imagine keeping the energy within these two places, your blood flow increases to those specific areas through your mind power.

3. Physical Moves

Maintaining the energy focus and incorporate proper breathing to intensify your current mind-genital connection. Imagine a circle of fire coming up from your genitals and expanding throughout your entire body, escaping from the depths of your mouth. Keep repeating this in a circular motion. Try to literally move the heat waves in and out of your body while you fire-breathe. Fire breathing will increase the oxygen level in your blood, not unlike other forms of deep breathing. However, fire breathing also forces more blood to flow into your genital area. When you’re ready, flex your PC muscles in perfect timing with each breath. Manually apply clitoral stimulation at this point by positioning yourself to make the best connection between penis and clitoris. By now, only very little stimulation will be needed to achieve mind-blowing orgasm. Don’t stop fire breathing during sex. If you lose a few cycles, just keep picking it up when you can, especially at the point of orgasm since fire breathing greatly intensifies that one certain moment. If you maintain your focus, you can even achieve multiple orgasms in a row. Just keep thinking of the Orgasm Loop as a film strip that will keep going until you specifically turn off the reel.

Loop, is a band that seems to have vanished from the radar screens of the cool kids. Too bad, because this record is pure pleasure. Very trance inducing music like the track , “Be Here Now”. These albums deserve a reissue, as do the Main and Hair and Skin Trading company albums. This band and its offshoots way beyond their time. Worth every penny.

I first heard Loop in high school. A friend of my older brother was heavy into psychedelic rock and this was one of his favorites. He gave me a tape with A Gilded Eternity and Heaven’s End. I thought it was bizarre at the time, but loved it just the same. Nostalgia hit and I had to hear it again. Abrasive and druggy, but liquid at the same time. You’ll like this if you are in to My Bloody Valentine, Hypatia Lake, or The Pink Snowflakes. Check out Main’s Hydra-Calm E.P. compilation, too.

My 1990 cassette copy of “A Gilded Eternity” has long since been atomized and levitated away in a fine shower of particulate. It felt like I wore that copy out within a year of its purchase. It was the perfect music for entering headspace through all sorts of avenues, and attentive listening consistently revealed new depths to Loop’s final release. This CD is a bonus release, but I’d rather concentrate on the original material, which was trailblazing enough.

Loop’s sound shares some surface similarities with Spacemen 3, in that it was heavily-amplified, guitar-driven, effects-laden, and highly repetitive in form. But Loop’s sound had a more visceral quality to it; it was massive, monolithic, propulsive, and in its standout tracks carried not only a psychedelic edge, but one that truly embraced and explored the more sinister aspect of that sound.

Nowhere was that more present than on “Blood”, the fourth track. A sinuous, heavily processed guitar tuned to a minor key weaves its way through repetitive, tribal percussion and bass-line. The surreal, hallucinogenic quality of the track is amplified even further by Robert Hampson’s phased, echo-laden vocals, described at the time by critic Michael Yockel as having been “…phoned in from Jupiter.”

Most heavily layered of all of their tracks, “Be Here Now” represents the apotheosis of Loop’s sound, and “A Gilded Eternity” the natural conclusion of the direction they chose to take as a band. This is the most conventionally structured song on this release, and yet it still manages to sound as if it’s emerging from the deepest recesses of a universe where everything is opiated and the number of fixed, recognizable dimensional points are truly infintesimal at best.

“Shot With A Diamond”, which closed the original release, signaled the direction that Hampson would take with Main, an ambient, drumless piece, minimalist in composition, yet rising to a climax of chilling pulsation that has the listener envisioning the slow rupture of larvae from a tarantula wasp through the hapless body of its host.

After splitting from Loop, John Wills and Neil McKay (the band’s rhythm section) formed the Hair and Skin Trading Company, which took the creeping sense of menace on “A Gilded Eternity” into a slightly more structured direction on their final release “Over Valence”. However, this CD can be regarded as the inspiration from which those compositions sprang, if not the final blueprint. “A Gilded Eternity” was truly one of the genre-bending releases of the ’90’s, and definitely recommended.

Salmon’s review says it better than I can. I ran across the cassette back in 1991. It was sent to the newspaper I worked for for a review that never came. It was WAAAAY over their heads..hell, it is over mine. I love music of all kinds, and although I bought Psychocandy (credited with starting the breif movememt) when it first came out, I never knew there was such a thing as “shoegazer” until this last year when I came to amazon to replace that aging cassette.
I have to say this is music on another planet. I is undefinable and utterly unique; hypnotic and unnerving. I now own more Loop, and this definately their best work.
This record will never age; it timeless, Johnny Cash timeless, Hank Williams timeless.
Too bad folk not actually looking for this stuff can’t hear it.

The Loop mouse works very well except for some minor quirks the most aggravating of which is the fact that you eventually mimic a contortionist when you are using it. Every time
the pointer encounters a screen edge, it re-centers, and if you carry on past the screen edge, eventually you find your self pointing the mouse back over your shoulder and around
your ear in order to move it around the screen. For a person who talks with his hands a little practice and thought must be put in to manipulating the mouse or you are going to wind up more entertaining to your audience than you wished and for reasons other than you intended. Too bad it does not have a centering button. Without a centering button, it is not worth 105 dollars. It is not as usefull as a Wii remote which requires you to point at the sensor bar, or the multifunction PS-3 controller.
